PI-NE uses many different pieces of equipment on each investigation depending on where we investigate and what electrical resource we are able to obtain is a factor in what equipment we chose to use. Some places we investigate requires only our hand tools and others require every piece of equipment we have. Below you will find the equipment we use on nearly every investigation and below those you will find pieces of equipment we do not use. Each group uses there own techniques and equipment for different reasons but we all are out to seek the truth.
Equipment Used
Lorex 16 Channel Wired DVR
Our latest upgrade to our group.
Not only is this DVR easily moblile its capability of having up to 16 Infarared camera's allows us to cover much more areas with less equipment then we were able to before. Our use of the DVR system helps us capture evidence even if we are not in the room to experience it. Not only is this useful for our investigations but we are able to remote view our evidence from any location so viewing evidence has become easier.
Mel-8704R ProNavigator (EMF Meter - Ambient Temperature-Flashlight)
There are a few reasons we choose to use to use this as a standard piece of our equipment it not only a 3 in 1 tool which makes things much easier to get the readings your are looking at the same time. There is no more wishing you had more then two arms. This piece of equipment is very useful it detects high volumes of emf reading which cause hallucinations, paranoia, and may even cause illness. In theory the emf meter may be use to detect energy which some people believe that this energy is what ghost are made of. It is also though that certain areas that have cold spots may be related to ghost phenomena which is where the ambient temperature come into play. Due to most investigations being nearly in pitch black with the red light flashlight it enable you see up to 30' in front of you and unlike regular flashlight this one will not interrupt any nigh vision equipment.
Geiger Counter Radiation Detector
The Geiger counter shows levels of and variances in beta- gamma- and alpha-wave radiation. Used for monitoring your investigation area for any unusual levels of these radiations. In theory the ambient radiation could increase or decrease with paranormal activity.We not only use the Geiger counter for haunting but it is said that a UFO sightings radiation would be significantly increased.
HI-8 Video Camcorder
Our DVR Infared cameras a excellent peice of equipment to use while we are not in the room. While were mobile and walking around we like to take the Hi-8 or another video camcorder with us for those hard to get to places. This also serves as our second pair of eyes as well as can confirm a evp by either getting the same noise or simple confirming the groups where abouts when the evp happened.
Digital Voice RecorderWe use these to try and get evp's (Electronic Voice Phenomena) it is thought that entities (ghost's) voices that are not heard normally by the human ear at that point in time but can be heard during playback.
Motion Censor Digital Camera
This piece of equipment can be used for a wide variety of reasons. We use this equipment during a investigation that has reports of activity in the woods but we have also used this indoors. This handy piece of equipment works as a digital camera, has IR lighting and works by censors. If something has a heat signature and is moving this camera will take a photo. The great thing about using this type of camera is that even if you can't see the object with your own eyes, if it has a heat signature, your photo will show it.
Infrared Motion Detector
Not as productive as the digital camera motion censor this piece of equipment is still a good piece of equipment to use. We like to use this because it detects or receives the infrared heat signature off of anything that is above absolute zero. If a heat signature passes this device with in 30 feet and you have it in alarm mode it will go off and alert our team so we can investigate further.
Sound Level Meter
Sound Level Meter allows you to measure sound
from 50-126 decibels. It has two weighting options to
measure just sound that the human ear is sensitive to
or a wider spectrum of sound. By using this piece of equipment we can get a better understanding of our surrounds sounds. Like a evp although we can not hear it at that time during playback is a different story. This equipment in a way to show you at the moment in time if something is possibly trying to communicate which is why we like to use this piece of equipment with our voice recorders.
3 in 1 Barometer, Temperature, Humidity
Upon many other things temperature seems to be a factor in the paranormal. We use to to measure the Barometric pressure to see if it goes up or down. It is therory that when there paranormal activity the surrounds change in many different ways.
What we do not use
Ouija Board
We do not use things along this nature. We feel that this is exactly what it is made for: a game.
Pendulum
(weight suspended from a piece of string or chain)
We feel that using a pendulum to tap in to your self conscious mind can not be used for evidence because there is no scientific evidence to prove the existence. There is just word of mouth.
Dowsing RodsThe Dowsing Rods were originally made to find underground water, buried metal, gems or other objects. It is now also thought that the dowsing rod can pick up paranormal energy. As a group we do not use these rods because we feel there is no scientific value to using them.
Ghost Box
A ghost box work off of a AM/FM band some feel that spirits could be trying to communicate through these channels.The fact this it is AM/FM is exactly why we do not use this method as the evidence could easily be contaminated. Have you ever heard another radio show while listening to another?
We also do not use psychics as we feel strongly about our stand to scientifically investigating the paranormal. However we do refer clients who request a psychic. We refer our clients to people who do not charge; we believe that they came to us under the understanding that the services would be free and like to make sure until their issue is resolved, that all services remain free.
